In its sixth meeting in Dubai 15-16 June, Gulf Health Media and Education Committee recommended that the Gulf Electronic Health Education Archive be approved. The idea was initiated by the State of Qatar under the title: "GCC Health Education Encyclopedia". The State of Qatar will oversee and mange it, as explained by Mr. Jassim Ibrahim Fakhroo, Director of Media and communication Department at the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).
Within this context the meeting expressed their gratitude to H.E. Abdulla Bin Khalid Al Qahtani, Minister of Health and Secretary General of the SCH for this initiative by the State of Qatar.
Mr. Fakhroo pointed out that the meeting, in its ordinary session, was to discuss the decisions made in the 68th conference of the GCC Health ministers’ Council which was held last February. He added that the proposed electronic archive will be launched during the opening of the seventieth ministers’ conference which will be held in Doha.
Regarding the health media award, the prize manual was approved with some amendments by the Committee. It will also be amended each year to take into consideration any forthcoming circumstances. This year it will carry the theme "Enhancing the Appropriate health Life". Te Committee also recommended to continue work on the Gulf Plan for Non-communicable Diseases
